Lost & Found Homestead Farms is intentionally designed as more than a place to live—it is a working homestead community where land, structure, and purpose come together to support long-term stability, healing, and independence for veterans.
The homestead is organized around a central community core with surrounding residential dwellings, gardens, animal areas, and shared working land. This layout creates a balance of connection and quiet—encouraging daily interaction while honoring the need for personal space and reflection.
Rather than large industrial fields, the land is divided into smaller, purposeful zones. Gardens, pollinator habitats, livestock areas, and workspaces are integrated throughout the property, creating a walkable, human-scaled environment where progress is visible and work feels meaningful.
The land is not just scenery—it is an active participant in daily life. Veterans engage directly with soil, plants, animals, and natural systems, learning how to produce food, maintain land, and steward resources responsibly.Through this work, veterans gain:
The homestead environment is intentionally calm, grounded, and predictable—qualities that many veterans find restorative after years of high-stress or transitional living situations. Life on the land follows natural rhythms: mornings begin with animal care or garden work, seasons guide daily responsibilities, and progress is visible through tangible outcomes like harvested food, maintained spaces, and cared-for animals.
This is not temporary housing or a clinical setting. It is a place to settle, contribute, and rebuild confidence through meaningful daily life.
The land itself is an active participant in the program. Veterans learn how to:
By working the land, veterans gain practical skills that reduce living expenses, increase self-reliance, and open pathways to future employment or independent homesteading.
The homestead is therapeutic by design—without requiring veterans to engage in formal therapy to experience its benefits. Working with soil, animals, and living systems provides:
Nature does not rush. It rewards consistency, patience, and care—qualities that naturally support healing, growth, and resilience.

Lost & Found Homestead Farms is in alignment with existing State of Michigan initiatives that support veterans, agriculture, and regenerative land use. This alignment allows us to build responsibly, leverage proven frameworks, and connect veterans to broader opportunities and resources beyond the homestead itself.
“Built in alignment. Designed for long-term impact.”
