Each homestead activity connects to a larger pathway of growth. Veterans begin with daily participation and gradually move into specialized skills, leadership roles, and vocational pathways aligned with their interests and readiness.
The homestead prepares veterans not just to live here—but to carry these skills forward into independent living, employment, or long-term leadership within the community.
Lost & Found Homestead Farms programs are built directly into daily homestead life. Each program is designed to restore stability, build practical skills, and create clear pathways toward independence, leadership, and long-term purpose. Veterans do not simply attend programs—they live them.
The land, animals, and food systems are the classroom. Responsibility, routine, and contribution are the tools.
There is no cost for veterans to enter or participate in the Lost & Found Homestead Farms program. Housing, participation in homestead activities, training, and program support are provided at no charge to the veteran. The program is designed as a long-term pathway, with participation typically spanning up to three years, depending on individual goals, readiness, and progression. This timeframe allows veterans to build stability, develop practical skills, take on increasing responsibility, and prepare for independent living without financial pressure or urgency. Veterans may transition earlier or remain in leadership roles longer when appropriate, based on mutual agreement and program needs.

The homestead serves as the foundation for several integrated programs that build skills, confidence, and long-term opportunity. These programs are woven naturally into daily life rather than treated as separate activities.

Beekeeping plays a critical role in both food systems and emotional regulation. Veterans learn to care for honeybee colonies while supporting pollination across gardens, orchards, and surrounding fatrmlamnd.
Benefits for Veterans:
Beekeeping requires calm, patience, and presence. The focused nature of working with bees encourages mindfulness, confidence, and emotional control. Veterans often find a deep sense of accomplishment in caring for complex living systems while producing something valuable.
The program also introduces income potential through honey sales and pollination services, reinforcing the connection between stewardship and sustainability.

The homestead includes a canine training and boarding program that serves both the public and the veteran community. Veterans learn animal care, handling, and training skills while working alongside dogs in a structured, supportive environment. The presence of animals offers daily companionship, routine, and responsibility—factors shown to support emotional regulation and confidence. The program also creates earned-income opportunities that support the sustainability of the homestead.
Benefits for Veterans:
Working with dogs offers companionship, routine, and non-verbal connection—especially valuable for veterans navigating stress, anxiety, or isolation. Dogs respond to consistency and calm leadership, reinforcing confidence and emotional regulation.
The program also creates workforce pathways in animal care, training, and kennel operations while generating earned income to support the homestead.

Veterans participate in growing food using regenerative practices that prioritize soil health, sustainability, and long-term productivity.

Benefits for Veterans:
Gardening offers visible progress and tangible results. Veterans see the direct impact of their effort—from seed to harvest—building confidence, patience, and accountability. Growing food also reduces dependence on processed products and increases food security for the community.

Food preservation ensures the work of the growing season carries through the year while teaching veterans essential life and workforce skills. This program transforms harvested food into safe, shelf-stable resources that support daily community meals, reduce waste, and create pathways to future employment.

Food Safety Certification Pathway
Every veteran participating in the program will complete food safety training and certification. This ensures:
This certification also provides a direct pathway into the food service and hospitality industries, equipping veterans with a recognized credential that can be used in restaurants, catering operations, institutional kitchens, and food production environments.

Each program is designed with life after the homestead in mind. Whether veterans move into independent living, pursue agricultural or animal-care careers, or remain in leadership roles within the community, the skills gained here are practical, transferable, and sustainable.
Lost & Found Homestead Farms programs do more than teach skills—they rebuild identity, purpose, and confidence through meaningful work.
From the moment a veteran arrives, the homestead is designed with life beyond the program in mind. Each veteran receives individualized guidance and support to prepare for independent living upon exit, including help identifying housing options, budgeting and cost-of-living planning, employment or income pathways, and continued use of the practical skills gained on the homestead. Whether transitioning to their own land, a rental home, shared housing, or workforce opportunities in agriculture, animal care, food service, or related fields, veterans leave with a clear plan, transferable skills, and the confidence to sustain themselves independently. The goal is not long-term dependency, but lasting stability built on self-reliance, preparedness, and dignity.
Lost & Found Homestead Farms is designed for veterans seeking stability, purpose, and a meaningful way forward through land-based living and structured community life.
If you are looking for a place to reset, learn practical skills, contribute daily, and prepare for independent living, we invite you to take the next step. The Veteran Inquiry form helps us learn more about you and determine whether the homestead program may be a good fit.
