Founders Note

 A Place to Belong...

Some people know from an early age exactly what they are meant to do. For others, the calling comes more slowly — as a steady pull toward helping, healing, and building something that matters.

For as long as I can remember, I have felt a deep desire to help people and animals who are struggling. I grew up in a stable, supportive home, shaped by strong family values and the discipline and service mindset that comes from having a parent who served in the military. I was fortunate to experience consistency, encouragement, and a sense of belonging — and perhaps because of that, I have always felt drawn toward those who have not had that same foundation.

Animals, especially, have always been a natural connection point for me. There is something honest and grounding about working with animals — an unspoken understanding that doesn’t require explanations, judgments, or labels. Over the years, that connection has grown into a lifelong passion for animal care, training, and advocacy.

My husband’s life experience brings another important perspective into this mission. While I grew up with stability, he experienced early independence and uncertainty, learning to survive and adapt at a young age. He understands what it feels like to search for a place where you truly belong — where you are not just passing through, but welcomed, needed, and valued.

Together, we have always believed that people thrive when they are part of something meaningful — when they are trusted with responsibility, surrounded by community, and given time and space to rebuild their confidence and sense of identity.

Lost & Found Homestead Farms was born from that belief.

We believe that anyone who has served this country deserves more than temporary shelter. They deserve a place to come home to. A place where daily life has purpose, where hard work is connected to real outcomes, where growth happens slowly and steadily, and where belonging is not something you have to earn — it is something you are offered.

This homestead is not just about housing. It is about stewardship. It is about rebuilding confidence through contribution. It is about learning, mentoring, caring for land and animals, and rediscovering what it feels like to be part of a community that truly sees you.

At its heart, Lost & Found Homestead Farms is built on a simple truth:

Every living being deserves to know that they belong somewhere.

“I was lost, but now I am found.”
— a reminder that restoration is always possible.

Who We Are...

From Swanton Ohio

"We are really just normal people with hopes and dreams...I have been a Realtor for over 20 years and he is a maintenance tech and can pretty much fix anything.

Both of us are originally from Southeast Michigan (Lambertville and Erie).

Somehow, no matter what else life brought our way, we always found ourselves coming back to the same conversations — about purpose, about giving back, and about doing something that truly matters.

Our kids are grown and building lives of their own, and after years of talking, planning, and dreaming about creating something meaningful, we finally realized there was no reason to keep waiting. We had discussed it, envisioned it, and felt called to it long enough".

So we decided to act. Where there is a will, there is a way.
